Emergency services described the combination of extreme heat, intense winds and dry conditions in early December as "a perfect storm" for bushfires. These conditions saw numerous, intense fires take hold across Queensland requiring assistance from fire crews from interstate.
With very short notice, vehicles and Drivers from Stonestreets Gladstone depot were dispatched to transport Firefighters from the Airport to Agnes Waters, shuttle crews between shifts and return them to the airport over a 10 day period. Our team also assisted with rail outages and even assisted with the evacuation of Mt Larcom.
We are extremely proud of the way our Gladstone staff stepped up to assist with this local crisis.
